LOCAL ECONOMY
Towanda is the county seat of Bradford County and therefore enjoys diverse employment including county, state, and federal services, school system, health care, agriculture, and manufacturing. Large companies such as DuPont, OSRAM Sylvania, Craftmaster, Cargill Taylor Packing, Procter and Gamble and others have manufacturing plants or employees in our service area. This diversification provides us with a stable economy.

LOCAL MEDICAL SYSTEM
Memorial Hospital is one of three hospitals in Bradford County, but only two, including Memorial Hospital, have a Maternity Unit. There is a tertiary hospital at the north end of the county, 25 minutes by automobile, on the border of Pennsylvania and New York. Memorial Hospital was opened in 1959 and has been kept modern and up to date. The hospital board has provided leadership and support to enable us to invest consistently in the facilities, equipment and personnel to stay current with today's expectations. SCHOOL SYSTEMS
Towanda has a new building for combining several schools in the local area. There are other school systems in Bradford County that have modern facilities also. There is a private school in Towanda for the lower grades and bus service to Notre Dame High School in Elmira, New York.

GEOGRAPHIC PROXIMITY
Medium cities such as Elmira and Binghamton New York and Scranton Pennsylvania are from 45 minutes to 75 minutes from Towanda. Major cities such as New York City and Philadelphia are 3 to 4 hours by automobile. Bus service is available to NYC as well. Central New York is a wonderful area to visit among the Finger Lakes Region. Northeast Pennsylvania is a nice location with areas of interest.
