The Skilled Nursing
Unit is an essential part of Memorial Hospital's health care delivery
system. The programs of this facility combine the advantages of rehabilitation
and long term care with the services of our acute care hospital.
The
68 bed facility provides nursing care for individuals who are convalescing,
as well as for those who need long-term care. The ultimate goal is to
have each individual attain as much independence as is realistically possible
through individualized programs of treatment and activities.
Due
to the close proximity of the Skilled Nursing Unit to the hospital, our
residents enjoy the close attention of their physician and other medical
professionals, such as cardiopulmonary therapists, occupational therapists,
physical therapists, nutritionist, speech therapist, radiology and laboratory
technicians.
The Medical Director
of the Skilled Nursing Unit provides direction for the medical care of
our residents. He is very involved with the administrator and nursing
staff.
Each
semi-private room is furnished with a bed, chair, personal dresser, closet,
cable for television and half bath. Bathrooms are designed and equipped
for people with disabilities. Residents are encouraged to bring personal
possessions to make their room their home. Residents may have their personal
laundry done on the unit. Residents may purchase telephone service for
their room. Recreation rooms are equipped with large screen TV's for resident
entertainment.
An individualized
plan for around-the-clock care is developed by our comprehensive team
including:
