Trudy Ventello, LSW, Volunteer and Bereavement Coordinator for Memorial Hospital’s Hospice,
is pleased to offer complimentary volunteer training for individuals interested in
becoming a volunteer for the Hospice program.
The 2013 Memorial Hospital Hospice volunteer training / community end of life
education program is slated to begin on Monday, March 11, 2013 from 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm
in the Wellness Room of Memorial’s Personal Care Home. The community is invited to
participate in this seven-week course.
Participants will meet members of the hospice care team and interact with them about
end of life care and issues. The training schedule is as follows:
Week 1: Disa DeLauro, RN; Trudy Ventello, LSW, introduction to Hospice
Week 2: Tina Route, BSN; Regina Yates, CNA, patient care and regulations; common diseases in hospice
Week 3: Trudy Ventello, LSW, death and dying
Week 4: Jackie and Carl Whitehead, Hospice volunteers, communication
Week 5: Susan Black, ACSW, bereavement
Week 6: Rev. Richard Davis, hospice chaplain, spirituality
Week 7: Trudy Ventello, LSW, volunteer services
The course is designed to graduate volunteers into service for Memorial Hospital Hospice.
However, it is also a great opportunity for people to learn about sensitive aspects of
our terminally ill neighbors, friends and relatives. Any questions or to register for the
